Don’t Panic, There’s Organic!

So many things are reported on a daily basis about food and how harmful some of them may be to our system.

There’s the constant barrage of how junk food is poison and that it only promotes obesity everywhere. Then there are the occasional outbreaks in pork, chicken, and seafood. Sometimes we read about some miracle ingredient contributing to the prevention of Cancer or slowing down a progressive disease or whatnot.

In all the craze and hooplah, there’s something that becomes apparent– the more natural we go, the better. Enter organic farming.

The use of fertilizers and hormones to fatten up livestock, the soil for vegetables, and fruits have caused panic in some people. Now a lot of people are wary about where they buy their ingredients and how they were made.

This is the reason why organic food have been in demand and are really making their mark in the food industry.

More and more restaurants and households are opting for the farm-to-table experience and if you’re not yet convinced of its benefits, here are a few quick facts for you:

  • Organic refers to the method of producing food through environmental and animal-friendly methods. This means no pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones, and other harmful things usually used.
  • Organic grass-fed beef is high in omega-3 that helps boost your immune system and also helps to fight Cancer because of the healthy fat called CLA (conjugated Linoleic Acid).
  • Organic milk also contains more antioxidants, omega-3 and CLA than the non-organic variety.
  • By eating organic, we strengthen our immune system because we aren’t bombarded with superfluous doses of antibiotics that are used in non-organic animals.
  • Some say organic food tastes better. Since most of the organic food we consume is grown locally, they are fresher in the markets unlike those that are frozen, packed, or canned.
  • You can stop feeling guilty about harmed animals in the making of your food as they are treated humanely and not abusively.
  • Radiation free. Non-organic food are treated with radiation to kill bacteria and keep them longer on the shelves. Organic food might spoil faster, but it won’t increase the radiation in your body.
